We’re thrilled to celebrate our amazing colleague, Dorota Kasperek, Ex-El’s UK Export Co-ordinator, on her graduation from the Chartered Institute of Export and International Trade! Dorota has earned the prestigious Level 4 Customs Practitioner Award, and we couldn’t be prouder of her outstanding achievement.
Ex-El Group has been providing export services to clients for almost five decades. The name itself is derived from “Export of Electronics,” and given the nature of our business and the products we handle, it has always been imperative that we remain fully compliant and up to date with legislation, rules of engagement, and that we ensure a seamless transition of goods and services for our global customers.
Dave Hinch, Managing Director, says “Having been in the industry for 40 years, I’ve learned that staff knowledge is key – it increases efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction. When employees feel competent and valued through training and knowledge development, their job satisfaction increases, reducing employee turnover and fostering a more stable workforce. Professional development and investing in our teams are essential; enhancing their skills improves our overall performance and demonstrates to our employees that they are valued and part of a stronger team.
Dorota’s role as Export Co-ordinator is an essential part of our team and the core service we provide to our international clients. Her commitment and achievement are commendable and vital to Ex-El Group’s continued service, growth, and development. In today’s world, where counterfeit goods are an ever-present concern, export compliance and up-to-date legislative knowledge have become increasingly complex and carry greater responsibility. We must remain vigilant, educated, and fully aware of where our goods originate from and where – and to whom – they are going. Our international clients rely on Ex-El Group for our expertise and guidance, and we take pride in ensuring full compliance both for ourselves and for them.”
Dorota shares her experience: “When I started at Ex-El Group almost three years ago, I had some knowledge of export requirements, but this was my first role in the defence and aerospace industry, so I needed fast-track training in export control. Dave Hinch, our MD, and my Internal Sales Manager, have been extremely supportive throughout my journey. I attended a series of workshops and training sessions with the ECJU (Export Control Joint Unit) – the government body responsible for export control. After completing those, I was eager to continue learning and enrolled in the Level 4 Customs Practitioner Award, which covered modules such as:
- Customs procedures and documentation
- Introduction to export controls
- Classification of goods
- Excise duties and procedures
- Trading with the EU
- FTAs and rules of origin
I completed the course in May this year, and as UK Export Co-ordinator, I now apply this knowledge daily. As part of a US-UK group distributing licensable goods of both US and European origin, I feel better prepared to support our customers with compliance and export queries. Our supplier base is worldwide, and I can now help our Logistics and Shipping Team deliver goods with lower duty rates, thanks to my knowledge of international trade agreements, commodity codes, and rules of origin.
I can’t stress enough the value of the knowledge I’ve gained. On a personal note, I hope to continue my career in Export Control and my journey in Compliance. It’s a career path I never envisioned for myself, but thanks to Dave’s and team’s foresight and guidance, I found my place in this field.”
Congratulations again, Dorota – your achievement is very well deserved, and you are truly an asset to the Ex-El Group.
